What We Do
We are here to better understand the ways in which venture capital can be utilized to create systemic, positive impacts on our society and the environment. We work towards this goal by publishing blog posts, conducting market analysis, hosting one-on-one discussions, and reviewing research reports on a regular basis.

Who We Are
John Byrne
I am forever interested in the ways capital can create significant and measurable impacts on our communities, societies, and natural environments. I see venture capital as a way in which we can address and solve many of the negative market externalities present in our markets, such as malnutrition, pollution, and poor resource management. My main interests lays in the intersection of venture capital and our Food System. Ongoing success stories, such as Oatly, WHOOP, and One Bars, take up much of my attention.

I was first exposed to the world of cleantech while working with a recycling firm and was immediately hooked. Every business and every industry will need to achieve a circular business model and net zero emissions if they are to thrive. In order to do so, we will need to scale innovation by an order of magnitude – and venture capital is the lifeblood of innovation. Without it, we are tackling 21st century crises with 20th century solutions. Sectors that fascinate me include the circular economy, clean energy, energy efficiency, and transportation.

Following exploration into the IPCC reports and other fundamental climate change readings, for the past two years I have insatiably chased knowledge around a variety of climate related verticals. Through investing at Dorm Room Fund and Flight Ventures, much of my focus has been on the intersection of climate and venture capital. Specific areas of interest include the future of food, agtech, marketplaces, climate related SaaS, and more.
